Why I’m Running

Iowa was built on a simple idea: If you work hard, treat your neighbors with respect, and play by the rules, you should be able to build a good life and leave things better for the folks who come after you. Iowans don’t expect handouts – but they do expect a fair shake and that the people they elect to represent them, actually represent THEM.

I was taught that faith calls us to responsibility and that real strength comes from service, not power; from fairness, not favoritism; and from community, not greed.

Today, too many Iowan families are working harder than ever and still falling behind. Workers put in long hours and still can’t make ends meet. Families are stretched thin by health care, housing, utilities, food, and child care costs. Seniors worry about retirement. Veterans struggle to get the care and support they earned. Farmers are squeezed by monopolies and chaotic tariffs from Washington that they didn’t ask for. Rural towns are hollowed out while big corporations ship profits out of state. And too many communities can’t even trust that their water is safe.

Meanwhile, the well-connected and powerful get tax breaks and special treatment to help them get richer.

That’s not because Iowans are falling short. It’s because too many decisions in Washington are driven by money and power instead of honesty, dignity, and the common good.

I’m running for Congress because this isn’t about left versus right – it’s about fixing a system that’s being rigged by those at the top against the rest of us. It’s about standing up to the establishment, corruption and concentration of power, and standing with the people who keep Iowa running – workers, farmers, seniors, veterans, and families who just want a fair shot. It’s about bringing Iowa values back to Washington and making sure our voice can’t be bought, bullied, or forgotten.
